CiteSeer was first introduced in 1997 as a scientific literature digital library and search engine, and has grown to include data on more than 750,000 research publications. According to Wouter Gerritsma, the service was processing more than 1.5 million requests daily, which was pushing the limits of the system’s capacity.
Enter CiteseerX, which boasts a more robust user interface and search speed while also offering users the ability to register their own personalized version of the service. From within MyCiteseerX, users can select publications to track and receive updates whenever these items are cited.
